An EORI number is stored both nationally and on a central EU database. The information it provides is used by customs authorities to exchange information, and to share information with government departments and agencies. It is used for statistical and security purposes.
You will require an EORI number if you are planning to import or export goods with countries outside the EU. You may need an EORI number to trade with these countries in Europe – Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Iceland, Jersey, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Moldova, Norway, Switzerland.
EORI Number applications take up to three working days to process.

The Procedure for Electronic Application for Certificates (PEACH System) is an online tool for fulfilling a number of important requirements when importing plants or fruits and vegetables that are subject to Specific Marketing Standards into the UK from outside the European Community. Imports of plants and plant products must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate to confirm their health. You must provide advance notice through PEACH that a consignment is about to enter the UK. This guide explains how to register with and use PEACH. It outlines the regulations that PEACH can help you comply with, and it sets out the steps involved in using PEACH to apply for a Certificate of Conformity or to pre-notify plant health-controlled imports. PEACH applies to England and Wales but not Scotland or Northern Ireland. However, it does apply to Scottish and Northern Ireland businesses, whose imports arrive from either England or Wales. Scottish importers should contact the Scottish Government Rural Payments and Inspections.

Inward Processing (IP) is a valuable system for businesses dealing in international trade. By being authorised to use Inward Processing, you can significantly cut the expense of Customs Duty and import VAT for goods that you import from outside the UK and later re-export from the UK.
One the other hand, Outward Processing (OP) is a system that allows goods to be exported from the UK for processing or repair in another country and then re-imported with either total or partial relief from import duties.
